DEPARTMENT RULES

All exhibitors
must be members actively enrolled in a 4-H/FFA Dairy Project.
Exhibitors MUST be a
4-H/FFA Chapter member in good standing in Madison and/or Virginia
Cooperative Extension Planning Districts 9 & 10 which includes:
Culpeper, Fauquier, Orange, Rappahannock, Albemarle, Fluvanna,
Greene, Louisa and Nelson counties.

All animals
must be owned or under the care of the exhibitor by May 15,
2008.

There is
NO minimum number of entries in a breed before Champion Awards
will be given.

All
entries must arrive on grounds between 9:00 a.m. and noon, Tuesday,
July 15, and not removed until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 19.
Entries that stay until after the Demo Derby will receive $5.00
per animal bonus premium. Lactating entries may be leave after
the show is complete. Visiting counties may remove animals as
soon as the show is over.

Exhibitors
may show no more than two entries per class and no more than
five dairy animals total. Only
4-H/FFA members exhibiting animals at the Madison County Fair
will be allowed to assist in showing a second entry.

Each animal
exhibited must be listed on the official entry
form.

Health
Regulations: The Livestock Committee will check animals for
general health, proper castration, ringworm, lice, mange, warts,
and other parasites. Any unhealthy animal(s) will be dismissed
from the grounds.

All animals
must be clipped and clean. The show management reserves the
right to remove any animal(s) they feel are unruly or that are
considered a safety hazard. No horned animals will be allowed
-
The Dairy
show will be conducted under the PDCA code of ethics.

Entry fee
is $5.00 per head for in county animals. Entry fee for out of
county exhibitors is $10 per head.

Premiums
for each class will be: 1st-$20; 2nd-$18; 3rd-$16; 4th-$14;
5th-$12; 6th-$10.

Dairy animals
must be purebred, but need not be registered. Classes will be
held for the six major dairy breeds: Holstein, Jersey,
Brown Swiss, Ayrshire, Guernsey and Milking Shorthorn.

Dairy show
whites are expected for show attire. Show harnesses are not
required.
All entries are due to the department head or Madison
Extension Office by 4:30 p.m. June 20 2008

experience level:
