DEPARTMENT RULES

  1. All general rules and regulations for the Madison County Fair apply to this department with the additions as noted below. By submitting an entry you agree to read and abide by these rules.

  2. This Youth Dairy Goat Show is sanctioned by the American Dairy Goat Association and ADGA rules shall govern. The Nigerian Dwarf classes are also sanctioned by the American Goat Society allowing a dual sanction for that breed. In the case of the Nigerians both ADGA and AGS rules will govern.

  3. This show is limited to youth who have not yet reached their 21st birthday as per ADGA/AGS rules.

  4. All animals exhibited in the Youth Dairy Goat Show, including those used in showmanship, must have been registered in the ownership of the youth exhibitor or a family owner membership on or before May 19, 2008 and should be under the primary care of the youth exhibitor. Exception: 2008 spring kids bred by the exhibitor must be registered but their papers may be dated after May 19, 2008.

  5. The original registration or recordation certificate is required for all animals shown in the sanctioned portion of the show. No duplicate applications or signed transfers will be accepted. All animals are subject to ID verification at any time.

  6. Each exhibitor is expected to handle his/her own animals in the ring. If an exhibitor has more than one animal in the ring, he/she must secure another youth to show the additional animal(s).

  7. NO bucks or animals with horns will be shown.

  8. All animals must be identified by ear tag, or permanent tattoo, or microchip in compliance with "USDA Scrapie Eradication" guidelines.

  9. All animals must be in good health or they will be sent home immediately.

  10. Age of animals will be computed as of the day of the show - July 19, 2008.

  11. Showmanship animals must be shown in the individual age class of their breed in the dairy goat show.

  12. All group class entries will be made up only of those animals that have been shown in the individual classes of that breed.

  13. Youth Dairy Goat exhibitors who are members of the same family using a single designated herd name with ADGA or AGS, may combine does to form a single entry in the group classes, provided the does were exhibited in the individual classes of that breed. Please enter the group class under a single name on one entry form.

  14. Animals should be on the fairgrounds by 9:00 A.M., Saturday, July 19. Show will begin at 9:30 A.M. (A noon lunch break is required to allow the Madison Co Fair Bucket Baby Show to use the showring.)

  15. Any substitutions must be made BEFORE the show begins.

  16. There is no entry fee or premium paid for the Pee Wee showmanship class. Ribbons will be awarded.

  17. After all sanctioned classes are complete, classes will be offered for non-registered standard size and miniature dairy goats and wethers.

  18. Exhibitors are encouraged to post displays promoting dairy goats and their personal herds.

  19. Tack stalls are not guaranteed but there should be plenty of room for supplies and milk stands in the stalling areas and at the ends of the aisles.

  20. All animals brought to the show are to be exhibited with the exception of nursing kids. NO "For Sale" animals unless they are entered in the show.
