The
Madison County Fair Demolition Derby is a spectator attraction.
In the interest of safety and fairness, drivers and team members
are subject to and must obey the following rules and regulations.
Each driver and team member has an obligation to read the
rules for their best interest.
|
- These rules
supersede any and all rules previously used; all general rules
and regulations of the fair apply unless noted here. Rules are
subject to change without notice according to the Madison County
Fair committee. Decisions of the officials are final.
- Unsportsmanlike
conduct will not be tolerated and will be grounds for disqualification
and barring from future derbies. Drivers are responsible for the
actions of their crewmembers. ABSOLUTELY NO ALCOHOL.
Use or possession of alcohol will result in immediate disqualification
and removal from the grounds.
- Each driver
must fill out an entry blank. Entry forms may be filled out at
the fair if the limit of cars has not been met.
- All drivers
must supply their own cars, and only one entry per person.
- No one under
the age of 18 is permitted to drive in the derby and no one under
the age of 16 is permitted in the staging area. Each driver must
sign in at the registration desk the day of the event and have
the car placed in line for inspection by 4:00 pm.
- Driver armbands
will be issued upon registration and signing release forms. Valid
photo identification for driver is REQUIRED at registration.
- Only one
person per car (typically the driver) will be allowed free admission
to the fair on the day of the competition. This person must
accompany the car through the gate in order to receive free admission.
Anyone else helping the team must pay regular admission. No one
else coming in before or after the car, even if it is the driver,
will receive free admission.
- Car number
is assigned (see entry form) upon receipt
of application. Drivers must wait for confirmation before numbering
cars. Cars registering at the event must accept the number assigned.
Heat assignments are made after receiving all applications.
- The derby
committee, promoter, track owner and/or fair association will
not be held responsible for any cars, parts or personal property
before, during, and after the event, or overnight. All cars must
be removed from fairgrounds following the event unless prearranged
with derby chairman. Towing required for violators will be charged
to the driver of the car.
- Drivers
are required to participate in a drivers' meeting and introductions
before the event.
- Any classes
requiring multiple heats will be stopped once there are three
(3) cars left running and making contact. Those three cars will
receive trophies and the right to advance to the feature heat.
The feature event will be stopped once there is one (1) car left
running and making contact. First, second, and third place trophies
and prizes will be awarded in the feature event. Classes not requiring
heats will be run like the feature.
- The Women's
Class is for female drivers only. All other rules apply. The winner
of the Women's Class will have the option of advancing to the
Stock Car feature heat, but this is not required. Women are not
required to run in the Women's Class; women are allowed to participate
in other if they choose.
- No one except
for the drivers and event staff will be allowed inside the track
area during the running of the derby. Everyone else, including
team members, must be behind the wooden fence at all times during
the heats.
|
- Safety belt,
Z-90 approved helmet and face shield are required.
- No deliberate
hitting on the driver's door.
- Vehicles
must have dependable brakes at all times and track boundaries
must be observed.
- A vehicle
will be disqualified if the driver's door comes open during a
heat. Any car deemed unsafe to continue by the officials before
or during the event will be disqualified.
- One minute
limit is enforced by track officials for re-starts and making
competitive contact with another car. Hits must be aggressive.
Simple contact within the time limit does not constitute combat
and could be considered sandbagging.
- A $100.00
protest fee is required to contest another car. Protest must be
specific and made within ten (10) minutes of the end of the last
heat, before the feature event. The protest must be made to the
Derby Chairman and be witnessed by a Fair Board Director. Only
cars running in the feature heat may be protested and only a registered
derby driver may file a protest. If the car protested is found
to be illegal, it will be disqualified and the protest fee becomes
the property of the fair association. If the car protested is
found to be legal, its driver receives the protest money and is
allowed to run in the feature event.
